Early Years Foundation Stage

Early Years Foundation Stage

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework for all the children which meets the individual needs of all the children in our care.

The framework is grouped into four PRINCIPLES:

A Unique Child

Every child is a unique child, who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.

Positive Relationships

Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key person.

Enabling Environments

Children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents/carers.

Learning and Development

Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates, and all areas of learning and development are equally important and inter-connected.

Prime areas

Learning and development is divided into 7 different areas, PRIME AND SPECIFIC and through play these areas are covered:

The prime areas are:

• Personal, social and emotional development

• Physical development

• Communication and language

The specific areas are:

• Literacy

• Mathematics

• Understanding the world

• Expressive arts and design
